Can you imagine going to church or attending a service without singing hymns or praises? Without songs and music, the service would be still, quiet, and may even be boring. Praises may not be well expressed by using merely words or silent prayer. Worship songs play a very important role when praising God as music reaches the depths of hearts in a very powerful way. Through singing, we are able to express our deepest responses to God’s call.
Whenever we find it difficult to put into words our thanksgiving and our petition, hymns help us express our deepest feelings. Worship songs even help preach the good news as some songs teach about God’s promises to the faithful. Most importantly, worship hymns help bring the community closer as everyone sings as one entity. The whole community pours their hearts into song and even dance whenever in a service.
