Late this afternoon, I managed to bump into an old friend while doing the groceries. Lara works as a nurse in a city hospital and the last time I heard from her was in her wedding. As soon as we started to chit chat, the first thing that I noticed that she has dark circles under her eyes. Perhaps she noticed me staring while she was talking and there was a sudden silence. I was afraid that she might have gotten mad because of my inappropriate gesture.
Good thing she was a woman of patience. She just smiled and told me that she just got home from a double shift. After that, we just smiled at each other and resumed our chit chat.
