With the billions of people around the world, it could be said that at least half a billion suffer from head lice. During the start of the infestation, that is, the transfer of a louse to one’s head, one may not even feel a thing; but then, as time flies by, the infestation will worsen and may even cause certain bacterial infections. How safe is one from head lice? Early symptoms taken for granted could lead to unthinkable things.

One of the first symptoms that will inevitably occur days after the transfer would be intense itchiness on the scalp and even on the neck. One will find himself always scratching his scalp. Unlike some may think, that is, that the itchiness is caused by the bites of the pests, the itchiness is caused by their saliva. Another sign of the insects’ presence would be the red bite marks on the scalp and behind the ears of the infested.

If a long time would pass before one does something about his lice problem, the lice will be given a chance to give birth or produce nits or lice eggs. When this happens, the population growth of the pests in one’s head will grow exponentially. In the worst cases of lice-infestation, the scalp will suffer breaks that may result in bacterial infections; in other cases, the lymph nodes behind the ear will swell

Having said all of these, it is evident that it is best to prevent the transfer of lice because of the many unwanted things that follow it. However, if the transfer already took place, it is advisable to get rid of the problem as soon as possible.
